Updating Your Resume
Have you changed your phone number? What about your email address? Make sure your contact information is up-to-date on your resume before you start applying for jobs. If you do not know your email password and you cannot check it, head over to our training tab to learn how to make a new email address. You can't get a job if an employer cannot get in touch with you!
We are here for you! We can update your resumes and email it to you, fax it, or upload it to an application for you to finish.
Give us a call! (803) 343-2577.
Remember, we recommend two different kinds of resumes:
1) Upload Resume: this resume looks super plain and all of the information is left-aligned on the page without formatting. This makes it easier for computer upload and helps it auto-populate. Check your application and make sure everything is in the right place.
2) Walk-Around Resume: This is the resume to take to an employer to drop off an application or for an interview. It's formatted and looks more professional for in-person interviews and email attachments.
Applying for multiple types of jobs?
It's a great idea to have a "base" resume. Your work history, dates of employment, and locations all detailed. However, if you are looking to change career fields, it is imperative to create a different resume that outlines your experience as it relates to your desired career field.
For instance, a welder applying for a quality control position should outline their experience, knowledge, skills, and any training/credentials that would help show their qualifications for the position.
Customizing your resume:
There several reasons to have different versions of your resume.
1. Applying in the same field but for a different position? Make sure to include any skills or qualifications that are included in the job posting.
2. Applying for the same position but in a completely different field? It is necessary to show competency and solid experience that can translate to a different field.
3. Applying for a position in the same field, but remote? With more jobs offering remote positions, redesign a resume to illustrate any work-from-home experience, independent work, and spotlight any traits that show the potential to succeed.
